If you're one of those people who complains that bank holidays are boring because everyone goes home to their families whilst you're stuck in London and everything's closed  - think again! We're here to prove that the long weekend can be just as fun as any other!

Last weekend we visited Secret 7" in the run up to Record Store Day and this weekend is the main event! It's like the vinyl edition of Christmas. Head down to Berwick Street on Saturday to see performances from the likes of Adam Ant (yes, THE Adam Ant), Edwyn Collins and DJ Andy Smith. Read more here.

Dusty Fingers is a monthly vintage fair where you  can ravel back in time and find a treasure trove of clothes, furniture and quirky home wares at Clapton Round Chapel.  Apparently there will also be a few planned Easter treats and giveaways as this month it'll be hosted on Easter Sunday itself. Check out their official Facebook page.

We've picked a gourmet chocolate shop for this week's 'EAT' option, just in case you're not really feeling  your cheap egg from Tesco. Dark Sugars on Brick Lane stock wide variety of chocolate flavours to choose from including vodka and orange, pink champagne and fresh mint. They also have AMAZING chilli hot chocolates! Take a look at their Twitter page

Have you ever noticed that Starbucks charge extra for soy milk and don't even have almond milk? Well at Brick Lane Coffee you don't have that problem, they have a wide variety of milks to choose from for no extra cost and their chai syrup tastes better than any we've ever had before. But beware if you use their toilet - you will have several pictures of Miley Cyrus staring at you whilst you do your business. Here's their website

TWP Summer 14 April 14 2014

Alice in Wonderland

For Summer, we took inspiration from Lewis Carroll's 1865 novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, which sees curious seven year old Alice fall down a rabbit hole into a fantasy world of peculiar creatures, challenging her perceptions on the world. Alice's staple piece of pale blue knee-length dress with a white pinafore over-top was key inspiration to this collection, replayed in our flowing midi, pinafore pleat and and mini gingham smock dresses. Alice is an elegant, gentle, young and curious girl, who often finds herself daydreaming, pretty much THE WHITEPEPPER girl in a Summer wonderland, perfectly embodied by our beautiful model Lenny.

Shoot Moodboard

Clean, crisp, beautiful images made up the inspiration board for our Summer shoot, with illustration and whimsical quotes dotted around the images. Also hair antlers might just be our new favorite thing ever!

What's new for Summer?

Our classic angel smock dress has been reworked into an easy to wear, back buttoning t-shirt smock, whilst our sleeveless angel dress (which you all LOVED last Summer), now appears with the bib frill detailing, first seen in our Spring 14 collection. Another favorite from Spring, our pinafore midi dress now appears in classic white and navy, perfect for layering with our new boxy crop top in ivory. Brand new styles appear in the form of our pleat pocket midi dress, a new Summer staple with flowing pleats, available in black and white, and Alice twin set: a vintage-inspired stonewash denim skirt, and ivory crop top. Our oversized denim bomber jacket is the perfect festival jacket, big pockets for all your essentials, and cute layered over our grey bunny print knit. All in all, these new Summer essentials are perfect for Spring break, Summer holiday and bank holiday festivals, but will also slot into your wardrobe for all year-round styling.

TWP Picks!

You've probably picked your favorite pieces, but in case you're still struggling, here's what the team at WP hq are loving!

If you're finding yourself without plans this weekend - FEAR NOT! We have sourced the best places to eat, drink, shop and visit so you don't have to.

The Grocery Kitchen on Kingsland Road recently underwent a huge transformation where everything has been completely redone including the name and menu.  The previously meek cafe is now a roaring restaurant rotisserie and has adopted the name "ieatbones". We are more than curious as to what a beetroot and vodka cured salmon tastes like.

If you're partial to great album artwork then you really can't miss Secret 7" this weekend. Seven hundred record sleeves will be on display to the public for free before they go on sale at this year's Record Store Day. Artists, designers and illustrators such as Paul Smith, the Chapman brothers and even Karl Pilkington have all submitted designs. Not to be missed!

Get buzzed off great coffee or grab a delicious healthy juice at Slate on Curtain Road. We highly recommend the hot lemon juice if you're feeling like you're about to come down with something - it's probably thanks to these guys that we avoided a cold all Winter. The staff are super friendly and they always play great music which is a massive bonus.

You definitely need to head down to the Hoxton Hotel this Saturday for a pop-up shopping experience like no other, The Stylist's Rail - hosted by lovely lady and supper blogger, Plum. Browse a wide selection of clothes, listen to live DJs and rub elbows with stylists from publications such as Grazia and COMPANY. It's guaranteed to be off the rails (ha!)

Has anyone noticed that people seem to be going out on Thursday nights a lot more recently? We have, and we will be because there's an unmissible sample sale tonight at the Trapeze Bar in Shoreditch. Hopefully we'll stumble across something pretty to wear when the actual weekend comes around.

Occasionally at food markets we're overwhelmed with choice but if you're ever peckish in Whitecross Street Market you should definitely consider Soppka. They make fresh soups daily and there's always a vegan option if you're in that way inclined. Look out for anything curried or containing sweet potato, they taste like little pots of gold!

If you're looking for somewhere to party this weekend you could always throw on your vintage 90s gear and head over to The Macbeth in Hoxton. They regularly throw the best nineties nights in East London and this weekend they're paying homage to Kurt Cobain. Check out the event details on their website.

You've probably walked past The Old Shoreditch Station a billion times but we urge you to go in for a bevvy. The atmosphere is pretty chilled and they've made it socially acceptable to have a tipple at any time of the day.

If it's your payday then you literally have no excuse to attend the pop-up shop tonight! Unfortunately we aren't selling anything but some super cool brands such as Bill + Mar, Motel Rocks and Goldie London will be there selling their wares at discounted price. RSVP to the event on Facebook.

Yay! It's Friday, so make some plans with THE WHITEPEPPER weekend! This week... Clerkenwell Road Special!

Maria of THE WHITEPEPPER claims that The Artisan of Clerkenwell pub provided her with "the best English fish chips ever." That's quite a statement, so we say get down there and find out if it's true. They're at 53 St John's Square, EC1V 4JL.

Perhaps this should come under shop, but super pricey Vitra is more about inspiration hunting for us. We love wandering around the store looking for dream home inspiration, even though this place is ever-so-slightly out of our price range... Heads up, we love their online magazine too! Check it out here!

Coffee lovers flock to Workshop Coffee Co, located at 27 Clerkenwell Road, but this place is more than a trendy hipster hangout. Their ethos is " a guiding principle of providing our customers with the sweetest, cleanest and freshest coffee we can," and these guys really mean it. Perfect for a Saturday morning pick me up!

At THE WHITEPEPPER we all love Magma, magazine and art book addicts that we are. Always a little bit of something unique, Magma is ideal for gift buying, browsing away an afternoon, or street-style people watching. 117-119 Clerkenwell Road.

TWP LOVES: Visual Diaries / Girls March 07 2014

Last night we hotfooted it down to the Biscuit Building in Shoreditch for the launch of Visual Diaries / Girls, a brand new collective photo exhibition curated by Florencia Serrot. Featuring the works of 11 international female photographers, this exhibition is everything we at THE WHITEPEPPER love; beautiful, whimsical and often very personal diary images, shot by girls, featuring girls. We especially loved the selection by Portuguese photographer Sara Gomes, whose intimate photo journal for Vogue Portugal was already high on our reading list, plus Dutch photographer Sophie Van Der Perre's enchanting works. Sophie's own words, "I've always just shot what's going on in my life," summed up the mood of the exhibition perfectly, and it's a world we wouldn't mind stepping into.

Visual Diaries / Girls runs until March 20th, downstairs at Mother London, 10 Redchurch St, E2 7DJ.

Chicken-led restaurants have been flocking to London lately - Situated on Ravenscroft Street, Clutch serves gourmet copper buckets of healthier fried chicken! With a passion for ethically sourced chicken, all of the food is prepared using the finest grade groundnut oil.  With options from breakfast to dinner, there's something no matter what time of day...Ok, now i'm hungry!

Hand of Glory – The dark art of brewing cider, rural food & wiccan arts in a British folklore inspired pop-up!! ‘Hand of Glory’ is a pop up pub that unites a collective of artists in a disquieting, but colourful exhibition of British folk culture.

We don't like to blow our own trumpet but with a fresh drop of stock into our Topshop concession just in time for pay day it would be a shame not to. So why not try on at Oxford Circus. Full collection online at

Winner of the 2001 Turner Prize, Martin Creed's exhibition arrives at the Southbank centre until April. From our resident gallery goer Maria, we hear you're in for a bit of a treat. Be warned, it is not for the faint-hearted.

"This exhibition includes work containing nudity, bodily functions and some adult content." - what they said!

What's that? A Vietnamese restaurant on Kingsland Road? Enough already! That's what we thought, until we found Viet Hoa Cafe. A deliciously upmarket atmosphere with affordable prices and AMAZING food makes this our new go-to Dalston eatery. Heads up the salted tofu is our fave! Check out the menu here.

For after-work / after-dinner or just because it's Friday drinks, head to Platform Cafe this weekend where arts collective Not So Popular are hosting FRISCO, bringing you the best in disco, r'n'b, hip hop, soul, and 90's dance classics. It's 8pm-4am, and entry is completely FREE!

Lovely Amy of Netil House is the brains behind this Sunday's YARD SALE! Get down there and grab a bargain, or sell your wares with a bargain price of just £8 for stall holders. There'll be yummy food and drinks vendors too, so an all-round perfect Sunday activity! More here.

We at the WHITEPEPPER have a soft spot for Hannah Hoch's work, namely her wonderful collages, created using fashion mags and illustrated journals. A member of the 1920's Dada movement, over 100 pieces of her work from throughout her career are being exhibited at The Whitechapel Gallery until March 23rd. So go see! Full exhibition info available on site.

NYFW : Marc by Marc Jacobs February 14 2014

Dare we say it, New York Fashion week never really compares to LFW in our eyes. Dazed and Confused got straight to the point, "New York fashion week has continued to drag its heels over an 11-day schedule during which, like previous seasons, only a selection of designers make a real impression." They have a point. But for us at THE WHITEPPEPER there is one huge reason why NYFW still grabs our attention, and that is Marc by Marc Jacobs.

It's an exciting time for the brand, as this year Marc Jacobs has said goodbye to Louis Vuitton in order to singlehandly head up the Marc Jacobs label, whilst appointing fashion dream-team Luella Bartley and Katie Hillier as design director and creative director at Marc by Marc Jacobs. This was the most highly anticipated debut collection of the year, and it ticked every box you would expect from the label; full of attitude, fun, playful, uber-cool and very clever. We loved the part ninja, part BMX biker feel of the opening look, and felt the prom dresses and statement print t-shirt dresses felt very East London cool. Hair and make-up was right up our street too, (ahem, note our love of pigtail plaits), and made with the collection, working with a mood described by Lauren Cochrane as "youthful but not saccharine".

One of our girl crushes and Marc Jacobs muse Sofia Coppola accompanied the man himself on the front row, and both gave the show a huge thumbs up, while Alexa Chung cried. We already can't wait for the next collection.

Get inspired for LFW now with THE WHITEPEPPER, check out inspire me: LFW Edit

This weekend sees the return of 'The Stylist Rail' at the Hoxton Hotel. Just in time for fashion week, the opportunity to sort out that all important outfit with a selection of independent designers and top stylists wardrobes to shop from. With a complimentary Bloom Gin, why not kick off Saturday night early!?

What The haberdashery says about The haberdashery:

'Our food is served on mismatched vintage dishes...Our coffee bowls are stacked higgledy-piggledy on the espresso machine...Our wall is decorated with a mosaic of victorian fireplace tiles.'

Satan's Whiskers - This isn't as evil as it sounds. Nestled between newsagents and offices in Bethnal Green, you can't miss the red neon lights above the door; your sign to enter the dark side or just a well earnt drink. A proper neighborhood bar in east London!

Last weekend Maria took herself off to the Photographer's gallery for the current exhibition; David Lynch, William S Burroughs and  Andy Warhol. We hear it's highly recommended. So for all you budding photographers out there or just fancy something nice to look at...Sunday sorted!

Fam Irvoll has made her mark as firm favourite with stylish celebs such as Lady Gaga, Paloma Faith & Rita Ora, and we can see why with the launch of her latest SS14 collection. What's even better, as of January 19th to the 15th of February you can own a piece of her collection too, as selected pieces from her bold print collection hit Topshop's flagship store; just in time for that Valentines day treat! *hint hint*

Her SS14 collection ‘Call The Exterminator’ features beautiful birds, curious rats and pesky ants, with pastel tones of mint and purple combined with the darker undertones of black and grey. The pieces are a mix of un-classically beautiful, insect printed bralets, blazers and printed trousers with an injection of swimwear, basically all-round perfection.

Sophie Hannah Richardson styled up the collection with no other than key pieces from THE WHITEPEPPER footwear collection, including some of our faves styles, the Leather Round Toe Walker Boot Black and Mary Jane Platform Wedge Black! We <3

Read all about our Spring Collection! January 31 2014

Spring 14 just landed!

We're over the moon to announce the arrival of Spring '14, our fifth mainline collection! Expect to see, for the first time, an exclusive in-house design print (by way of shirt midi dress, and super cute twin set), new and exciting twists on our signature smock dress, and a delicious new colour palette of gently candied pastels, milky whites and a pop of hatchling yellow. Spring has sprung at THE WHITEPEPPER!

This season we were inspired by all things floral, and a colour palette of strong and bright pastels. We also looked to playful and whimsical shapes, which you will see played out in our classic oversized shapes, but this time with a more ladylike, grown-up silhouette.

Our Spring collection also features an exclusive mini-knitwear collection, focusing on four carefully loved and designed styles. Our oversized knit jumper is the perfect slouchy knit, which can even double as a dress, whilst the beehive knit jumper is ideal for adding a pop of Spring colour to any daily styling. Our embroidery detail cardigan is super soft, with a unique floral detail, and to complete the collection, the long-awaited bunny print knit is finally here, ideal for layering under our new oversized outerwear seperates.

We all love everything, naturally, but if we HAVE to narrow it down, here's the team's pick of what they love the most!

This week Yeon is recommending Dukes Brew & Que pub in Haggerston, a lovely pub with an amazing bbq and brunch menu. We have it on good authority that the chicken wings are amazing, and even come in 3 levels of spice! See the full menu here

If you've never been to The Nest in Dalston then tonight is prime time visiting hours. They have superstar dj's Roska and Mele playing, and a huge bar full of Friday night drinks! See all upcoming line-ups here.

Ok we know it's a cliche, but this week we can't stop raving about our Spring '14 collection, which went live today! Full of lovely new styles and prettiness, so shop new in now!

This weekend Maria is heading to a brand new exhibition at the Rook & Raven gallery, for Nettie Wakefield's very first solo exhibition, 'Reserved'. "A strikingly talented young artist with an acute eye for detail," we can't wait to see her lovely work up-close. Full info here

This week we're recommending Peckham Bazaar, which needs no description, as they themselves offer the perfect one: "We buy great ingredients. We cook them over an open fire using Greek, Turkish, Albanian and Iranian recipes. That's it." Oleta recommends Harissa Marinated Grilled Chicken Wings, Kholrabi and pomegranate as her top dish! See the menu here!

Hows dry January going for you? We've decided enough is enough, and are marking the event by attending the Oslo launch party this Friday, a trendy new bar, kitchen, and all round fun times venue which opens this Friday right next to Hackney Central! More info here!

Maria loves East London based design store YCN, which she recommends as great for inspiration hunting! Much more than just a store, the member network for creatives is brimming with opportunities and comissions. Pick up a copy of their lovely magazine, and find out more here

There's not too much time left before the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize exhibition at the National Portrait gallery ends, and with a huge range of pictures in both picture subject and style, is well worth a wander around on a Sunday. Find opening times and read more about the prize here.

We love: Agi & Sam at LC:M! January 10 2014

This week saw the return of that 3-day menswear extravaganza which is London Collections: Men, and the show we were most looking forward to was that of one of our favourite menswear design duos, Agi and Sam.

We (along with the rest of fashion land - the pair were awarded the 2013 Emerging Talent award for menswear), have been big fans of the label back since the boys joined forced in 2012, through to their stunning Topshop collaboration last year, and look to them for inspiration on in their words, "uncompromising colour."

This season things were a little different, the show opened with a live tribal drum band, signalling a collection which explored African culture, and worked around layering, checks and monochrome, aka everything we love at THE WHITEPEPPER! Inspired by Agi Mdumulla’s recent travels through Masai territory, there were clever African influences, namely the sleeveless leather tops displaying African Oil conglomerates' logos. These mixed with pieces which had, in contrast a distinctly western feel gave the whole collection a much more serious tone than the pair's previous collections, and got a huge thumbs up from us.
